I have been reading quite a lot about China since last 2-3 years, and it's my sincere effort to put here what I have understood on Chinese policies, Thanks to the article published in Loksatta few days ago.
Well one thing I have noticed about China is that, When It comes to China, It is Big, Powerful, Huge whatever it may be then, consider its area, or its population or its foreign reserves or its military size or its Olympic event. The Country is continuously increasing supremacy in every field Economic, Military, Political, Diplomatic and Social and successfully facing USA's domination on world level (Is actually challenging and threatening US) and about to be a biggest super power soon as everyone is mumbling today. That’s why many people in the world say that the Real story is of China not of India.
Economic development and liberal policies are being the Chinese agenda of development, in fact it has played pivotal role in China’s development (attracting foreign investment) once their economy went open. The type of Chinese government (Peoples Republic of China-Maoist nature) forces its planed policies to be implemented more effectively and that too in time compared against India's democracy. And today they are the 2nd largest economy in the world after US, just overtook Japan. Artificially keeping Yuan’s value low and simultaneously investing in US security bonds helped them a lot to grow in size.
Technically they have upgraded themselves so expertly that they are building wonders now days which reminds us of The Great Wall of China. The 3 Gorges dam - A world’s largest and very huge water control program on the Yangtze River, intended for generating hydroelectricity(largest of a kind in world) and to control the floods. It also gives a check to India in critical times. Railway in Tibet which is built on height of 16,640 feet above sea level is the world's highest rail track is an example of their mastery in technical areas.
They are the greatest visionaries unlike India (It pains to say this) which prompted them to make huge investments in Africa 7-8 years ago, effectively using African raw materials, producing goods in their proudly called Manufacturing hub and enjoying profits in the end. And all this is done by just giving a small reward of basic amenities and some honor to the African countries by arranging all Africa – China meet, 2 years ago. No one looked at Africa as China did and today they have managed to get most of the African raw materials and effectively generating large revenues from it. And then our eyes opened and we said: Look beyond China India is yours J
Moreover now days, they are coming into India's developmental ways by every possible means, though India is not the only one country on China's list. The world very well knows the fact that, only North Korea and Pakistan are it's allies (China is actually using them against US and India respectively) and the trinity creates many problems on world stage, and China prefers to provide back stage support to sensitive matters. Vast military expansion and increasing assertiveness on the disputed territories are being the Chinese characteristics since it’s effective birth.
Since last few days China is building Gwadar port in Pakistan in the name of Sino-Pak friendly relations. Which allows them access to One of the biggest Crude oil center, access to Iran, access to Middle East region, development of Shinjiang, that gives a Check to US navy which is very dominant in the region, allows Pakistan to deal with its Baluchistan unrest by Chinese hands and more importantly for us access to Indian Navy and Bombay high.
Recently China is forcing a nuclear deal with Pakistan defying the NSG and the world and more importantly the US. This is how they are used to show everyone that China does not fear anyone. Previously they were effectively involved in nuclear proliferation though they are the members of NSG, and it’s a greatest threat today, to the world.
China has made huge investments and is very much busy in development of all the basic amenities in all India's neighbors. They are the master Strategists. These countries contain Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Srilanka. Investments in Srilanka give them control over Malacca straits and Indian oceans. They are continuously emphasizing on wining India's friends leaving India alone in South Asia.
They have started building roads near to India's borders :) That time in 1962 it was through Ladakh now it will be through somewhere else. Development of fundamental facilities near border will play a major role in the war and China has already started doing this. And whenever the war occurs India has to fight with both China and Pakistan at a time. And who knows the mode of war fare followed these days. China is done with extending railway in Tibet which forced India to at least build all seasonal roads in North east.
Increasing Trade with India (as China has upper hand in this), peace talks just for the name. On the other hand Building military base, Air base on disputed territories, Claiming India's territories is a part of their diplomatic policies as it gives them greater leverage against India on world platform. All this effectively forces India to invest more on defense systems barring the actual development process, exactly what China wants.
They continuously try to put India down by raising Issues like Different visa's for J&K and Arunachal residents as those are disputed territories in their views. Objecting to India's application for loan for development of Arunachal Pradesh at Asian Development Bank. Once these practices are put in to the reality, then they are free to claim these territories of this basis. Chinese plan’s entire success rate will definitely increase India's challenges.
All this is alarming to not only to India but also to the all other Asian countries especially Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and the rest of the world. Everyone knows that China is challenging the one and only US, on all possible platforms like Space research, Cyber web, electronics, military, economy and what not. It was demonstrated with the test of Anti-satellite missile conducted by China destroying its own outdated weather reporting satellite. Only US and Russia had it previously.
Matter between Google and China is well known. China wants to route all the information only through government channels so that they can better filter it as they want. And Google wants a free hand in it. Mind you Google’s operations now days are very much under scanner as they are trying to hack military and sensitive information through satellites and they have got the expertise but again that is beyond our scope. The catch here is Social conditions in China are not so good as shown by the Chinese regulated media. There are many evidences like the infamous Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, then recently happened Uighur unrest of Muslims, then the revolt of Tibetans any so on. Oppression of the people has been done by time to time in China whenever they have tried to implement their policies in there national interest.
One china policy – Another master piece of county’s policy. Today China has got ample of resources in every field so that they are no longer dependent on any country. In such scenario they keep their bilateral relations with the countries who are agreeing with One China Policy. It’s about Tibet. It states that Tibet belongs to China, and there is only one country called China. In other words they have occupied Tibet and they have made it legal by forcing the One China policy.
Well this will go on and one. One of the probable solutions to all this is, better the US prepares itself for a multipolar world and let us all remaining countries improve their bilateral ties and lets have a check on China collectively.
